Application
Admission to Bayan Islamic Graduate School programs is currently granted through the Chicago Theological Seminary. Prospective students can complete an application on this site.
Bayan Degrees Offered
Master of Divinity (MDiv)
Concentration: Islamic Chaplaincy (75 units)
Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
Concentration: Islamic Leadership (30 units)
Master of Arts (MA)
- Organizational Leadership (48 units)
- Islamic Education (48 units)
- Islamic Theological Studies (48 units)
Admissions Requirements
MA in Religion (All Concentrations)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Official transcripts from all institutions.
- Four letters of reference (2 academic, 1 religious, 1 professional).
- Autobiographical essay (≤2000 words).
- Resume or CV detailing experience.
- TOEFL score (if English is not first language).
- $50 application fee.
MDiv in Islamic Chaplaincy
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent community work.
- Official transcripts, references, and resume.
- Autobiographical statement (≤250 words).
- TOEFL as required.
- $50 application fee.
DMin in Islamic Leadership
- MDiv or equivalent in theology/religion.
- 3+ years of ministry experience.
- Official transcripts.
- Four letters of recommendation.
- Resume/CV and DMin application essay.
- $50 application fee.
Graduate Certificate in Islamic Chaplaincy
Apply through CTS. Requirements include:
- Official transcripts
- Autobiographical statement (≤250 words)
- Resume/CV
- Two letters of recommendation
- $50 application fee
Program Structure
All Bayan programs are hybrid—students engage in online coursework with 1–2 week in-person intensives each semester at CTS. Attendance is required for both formats.

Financial Aid & Scholarships
Students are billed full tuition by CTS. Financial assistance may be available via FAFSA (Code G01661). Bayan offers named scholarships for partial tuition support.
